Most of Malagasy unique flora and fauna is concentrated in the eastern rainforests. Abundant fruit and seafood.
The main products are coffee, vanilla, bananas, coconut and cloves.

ANDASIBE reserve of ANALAMAZAOTRA
Moist mountain forest extremely rich in fauna and flora including a higher number of frog species than in any comparable forest on the world .
810 HA reserve protects the biggest of lemur family : Indri Indri. 9 species of lemurs can be seen in Perinet, including the aye aye as well as Tenrecs, beautiful and varied insects and spiders and lots of reptiles. One of the Madagascar’s biggest chameleon lives here: C.Parsonii, as the smallest C.nasutus.

PANGALANES
Series of lakes linked by artificial canals.The quiet waters of the canal and lakes are much used by local fishermen for transporting their goods in pirogues and for fishing.
Lake AMPITABE has wide beaches of dazzlingly white sand , clean water for swimming and private nature reserve with several introduced species of lemurs
AKANIN’NOFY.
The small locality of Ankanin'ny Nofy situated on the edge of several sweet water lakes and the canal can be reached , by taking the Canal of Pangalanes. 25 km by boat from the village of MANAMBATO. There are many nautical activities possibilities and natural curiosities : crocodiles, carnivorous plant, lemurs, jungle, made-up paths near reefs strewn with wreck some of which dates back to the period of the buccaneers .

FOULPOINTE
Foulpointe, ancient trading center , place of holiday prized by the French during the colony period . The shallow lagoon and the beach are protected by a coral reef. Besides seaside resort pleasures, Foulpointe can offer a historical interest with the ancient Fort Hova , fortress erected under the king of Radama I.

SAINTE-MARIE or NOSY BORAHA
The small island of Sainte Marie on the North East Coast , spreading over 60 km of  long and 5 km of  large, is an oasis of greenery buried in a luxuriant vegetation with cloves plantations , desert beaches occupied by some fishermen villages with secular and traditional way of life. The landscape is enchanting with its hills covered with dense and humid tropical vegetation, set with small ricefields nested between villages, the palmtrees bordering beaches, flametrees , orchids or lilac along small roads. Ocean depths lover will be able to dive near reefs strewn with wreck some of which dates back to the period of the buccaneers .
Whale-watching
July to September seems to be the best time to see humpbacked whales.
